In the world of electroacoustic music, source sounds are often just that, sources. Their original “meanings” have been transmuted into something rich and strange (and playing “guess the source” just distracts from the music). Other times, as in Eric La Casa’s Stones of the Threshold, the sources are obvious. And if that’s not enough, Eric lists every one of them and even supplies their geography. This is the music of wind and water and Rovinj, not entirely unaltered, but never so as to detract from their natural deliciousness.

Les pierres du seuil is only one of the three tracks on this album, which includes S’ombre and Chrysalithe. All three use “field recordings” and other things. All three are delightful.
